In celebration of both Giacomo Agostini’s 83rd birthday and MV Agusta’s 80th anniversary, the Italian marque has unveiled a spectacular tribute bike—the Superveloce 1000 Ago, a limited-edition masterpiece that embodies speed, legacy, and precision engineering.
Only 83 Units to Honour a Legend
In an emotionally charged nod to the greatest Grand Prix motorcycle racer in history, MV Agusta has announced the production of just 83 units of the Superveloce 1000 Ago. This number corresponds to the age of the legendary Giacomo Agostini, who boasts a staggering 15 world titles, 123 Grand Prix victories, 18 national championships, and 10 triumphs at the Isle of Man TT.
A Blend of Racing Heritage and Modern Mastery
The Superveloce 1000 Ago isn’t just another premium motorcycle—it’s a rolling tribute. Drawing from the visual DNA of Agostini’s iconic racing bikes, the motorcycle is cloaked in Fire Red Matt and Magnum Silver Matt shades, accented with yellow highlights and proudly displays a number “1” badge on the front fairing—symbolic of Agostini’s many championship wins.
What sets this edition apart is its personal connection to the legend himself. Every motorcycle bears Agostini’s autograph and features a gold-plated plaque with its unique number. In a move that elevates the emotional value of the bike, MV Agusta has embedded a piece of Agostini’s actual racing trophy into the ignition key, turning every start into a connection with racing history.

Luxury Meets Exclusivity
Each Superveloce 1000 Ago comes with an exclusive kit. The package includes a certificate of authenticity, a premium bike cover, Alcantara and leather passenger seat, dedicated foot pegs, carbon fibre heel guards, and precision-machined adjustable levers. The swingarm pivot height can also be fine-tuned using included CNC plates.
Adding to the exclusivity, buyers will receive a custom-fitted Dainese Demone GP 3X racing suit and a high-spec AGV Pista GP RR helmet, both free of charge. The helmet—also worn by MotoGP riders—features a unique paint job inspired by Agostini’s Italian tricolour design, blending heritage and modernity with carbon-fibre finesse.
Performance Engineered for the Track
Beneath its artistic exterior, the Superveloce 1000 Ago packs MV Agusta’s formidable 998cc inline-four engine. Delivering 208 horsepower at 13,000 rpm and a torque figure of 116.5 Nm at 14,000 rpm, it’s built for blistering performance. Complementing this is a comprehensive electronics package, featuring:
- 8-level traction control
- Launch control and Front Lift Control (FLC)
- Four riding modes: Rain, Sport, Race, Custom
- Bi-directional quick-shifter
- Cruise control and ride-by-wire throttle
- ABS with cornering function

State-of-the-Art Components
Built around a steel trellis frame paired with aluminium side plates, the motorcycle features a single-sided aluminium swingarm. Suspension duties are handled by semi-active Ohlins units—43mm USD forks at the front and a rear monoshock—both adjustable via onboard electronic settings. The bike also benefits from a semi-active Ohlins steering damper to ensure stability at high speeds or during aggressive cornering.
Uncompromising Braking and Connectivity
Braking performance is equally impressive, thanks to Brembo Stylema calipers mated to dual 320mm discs up front and a 220mm disc with a two-piston caliper at the rear. Riders get access to a vibrant 5.5-inch full-colour TFT display with MV Ride app connectivity, allowing them to fine-tune their experience and monitor ride data.

Will It Come to India?
While Indian motorcycle enthusiasts may find it hard to get their hands on this exclusive model—given MV Agusta’s current lack of official operations in the country—it doesn’t lessen the admiration this bike commands. The Superveloce 1000 Ago is a masterwork of design and performance, a tribute that lives and breathes Agostini’s racing greatness.
The Superveloce 1000 Ago is more than just a limited-edition motorcycle. It is a symbol of MV Agusta’s enduring legacy and Agostini’s unmatched dominance in the world of motorsport. With only 83 units to ever exist, it stands as a rare and remarkable blend of history, performance, and prestige.
