The Maruti Suzuki Jimny has roared back into the spotlight with a sharp rise in sales, recording a significant 149% year-on-year (YoY) growth in May 2025. With 682 units sold during the month, the off-road SUV far outpaced the 274 units sold in May 2024—demonstrating a 1.5X increase in demand and reaffirming its place in the Indian SUV market.
Since its market debut in June 2023, the Jimny has now crossed the milestone of one lakh units sold in India, marking a major achievement for the brand’s niche 4×4 offering.
Engine & Performance
Under the hood, the Jimny packs a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine, capable of producing 105 horsepower and 134 Nm of torque. Buyers can choose between a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 4-speed torque converter automatic. Maruti Suzuki claims the manual variant delivers a fuel economy of 16.94 km/l, while the automatic returns a mileage of 16.39 km/l.

Design & Exterior Highlights
With rugged styling designed to appeal to adventure lovers, the Jimny features a gunmetal grey front grille adorned with chrome accents, round LED headlamps, and an angular impact-resistant bumper. It also includes practical elements like drip rails along the side and rear edges, all mounted on a robust ladder-frame chassis and 15-inch alloy wheels.
Interior & Features
Inside, the Jimny is equipped with modern infotainment and comfort features. The Alpha variant sports a 9-inch touchscreen system, while the Zeta trim includes a 7-inch unit. Both come with Surround Sense audio powered by Arkamys, a 4-speaker sound system, and wireless connectivity for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, enhancing the in-cabin experience.

Variants & Pricing
In India, the Jimny is available in two primary trims—Zeta and Alpha—each offering manual and automatic transmission options. Prices begin at ₹12.76 lakh (ex-showroom) for the Zeta variant, while the top-end Alpha model starts at ₹13.71 lakh (ex-showroom).
Looking Ahead
With the May 2025 numbers showcasing a remarkable rebound, the Maruti Suzuki Jimny appears to have regained consumer confidence, positioning itself as a strong player in the compact off-roader space. Its blend of classic ruggedness, modern tech, and refined powertrain options is clearly striking a chord with adventure-seeking buyers.
